Swollen Pickle Jumbo Fuzz MKIII by Way Huge/Jim Dunlop|Pedal demo/test/review

A fascination for fuzz pedals, that is my condition doc. That’s right and in this video I am going to take dive into the sea of fuzz to examine the Swollen Pickle Jumbo Fuzz MKIII from Way Huge. I still haven’t figured out why it is called a jumbo fuzz when the size of the MKIII is actually smaller than the previous versions? Well, life is full of mysteries…

So fuzz pedals seems seldom to be about a nice sound. Some people might think that distorted guitars are never fun to listen to but a fuzz almost makes it even worse… but still in a good way. They have a broken character to them and they, according to me, make you fight a little to play those shrimps that goes so easy with an overdrive or a distortion pedal. That might be where fun kicks in!

Anyways, I hope you liked this video. I had some problems to fix the sound so that it sound like what I experienced while playing but I think it came out quite well in the end. Still, just because of this I actually bought a ribbon microphone (SE Electronics X1 R) in the hope of fixing that issue for the future…

LC-107S Love Rock by Tokai|First Impression

Here’s my first impression video of the Tokai LC-107S. Tokai Guitars as it’s known in out part of the world (actually the name is Tokai Gakki Company) was started 1947 but didn’t start manufacturing electric guitars until 1975. Tokai is part of those Japanese brand known as “lawsuits guitars” due to the fact that they produced copies of American brand models.

From the beginning the Tokai Less Paul model was called “Reborn Old” then changed to “Les Paul Reborn” but in the 80’s the name landed as “Love Rock”, a name that is commonly used nowadays. Generally if you search for opinions about Tokai you will find positive views.

So, I first heard about Tokai in the mid 2000’s and have been looking for an opportunity to try them out since then… No luck as I have never seen one in a Swedish store. And as my old Gibson Les Paul needs some expensive fixes I took the leap and ordered a new one from Finland! The LC-107S seems to be, as I say in the video, the low end of the high end Tokai’s. Still it’s around 1460 Euro’s (or about 1740 USD) so it’s not low budget buy.

A full review of this Tokai will come when I have had some time to really try it out, until then you will have to settle for this first impression. Of course it will pop up in various videos as time goes by.
