Super Octaver OC-3 by BOSS|Guitar pedal review & Demo

Let’s have a closer look at the Boss Super Octaver OC-3, why don’t we? With three modes that also includes a drive/fuzz mode you do get some more variation in this stomp… Some will like it and some will not, it’s just that effect an octaver has on people I guess.

The Super Octaver OC-3 has one in for guitar and one for bass, so of course I test both even though I don’t really know why you wanna use an octaver for the bass (the sub-bass audience boo’s wildy). And just because I love it so much I also add the Morley Bad Horsie 2 wha – just to make fun even funner.

A big thanks for watching this video. If you wanna see me grow as a guitarist, hopefully, and support that (eventual) progress – subscribe! As always – T H A N K S – to all my subscriber so far, you’re the Best!

So, this is a review of the Crunch Distortion from Harley Benton, sold by Thomann in Germany. And it is also a giveaway of that very pedal that you see and hear in the video! The Crunch Distortion is a very good name of the pedal, that will give you a (in my opinion) raw distorted sound. I like it!

Dr. D MiniStomp by Harley Benton|Pedal review & demo

Time for another pedal frenzy and let’s continue with the Harley Benton MiniStomp series – Dr. D! This is a mellow overdrive that should sound like the famous Dumble amps, well, let’s keep that anticipation level low now.

Not that it sounds bad but I always doubt it when a pedal is said to emulate a very expensive rare amp. Heck, I’m dubious even if it’s supposed to emulate a cheap common amplifier!! So let’s put that aside and just have a listen to how it sounds – good in my humble opinion.

Also to add, seems these inexpensive pedals are selling like crazy over at Thomann. This pedal is currently not available, among many others of the ministomp series. But I’m guessing it will be again in the future.

DSL20HR by Marshall|Lined recording

Demo of how the Marshall DSL20HR tube can sound when do a lined recording. In this video I record the Marshall DSL20 both through the emulated out and the FX Loop send. For the latter I use some IR:s (cabinett files) becasue otherwise it would sound like crap.

That’s is really just what this video is about, and it’s actually my first try… it’s how it sounds without any after production, except for adding those IR:s for the FX Loop recordings of course.

DSL20 HR by Marshall Amps|Review & Sound demo

Let’s have closer look at the Marshall DSL20HR… again. Last time, it was just me and a buddy having at it in the rehearsal room. This time I have mic’ed the amp and will go through all the controls in more detail.

When it comes to record an amp through microphones I am the first one to confess that I am very far from being any good it. Might be practise will make perfect, who knows?! With that said, it came out pretty good besides the high-gain stuff, that feels a bit over-saturated compared to “the real sound”. Maybe it’s the proximity effect? I just dunno…

Anyways, the Marshall DSL20HR is, according to me, a fantastic little amp. It just sounds great and of course it sounds like a Marshall. The two channel is really separated with the ‘classic gain’ goes from close to clean to classic rock/hard rock gain, the ‘ultra gain’ goes from gain to metal. So, if you’re looking for a good amp for a nice, tame clean tone – look somewhere else.

Hope you liked the video and for future adventures – subscribe to Have Guitar! I will be grateful!!

Marshall DSL20H – Test & Review!

Marshall DSL20H – Test & Review!
…by Have Guitar

In this video we’ll take an extensive look at the Marshall DSL20H tube amplifier – can you get a better tube amplifier in this price range?! This little head can do most styles and let have a look at the spec’s:

2 Channels (Classic gain and Ultra gain)
20W switchable to 10W
Outputs: 3 x 1/4″ (16/8 Ohm load) + 1 x 1.35 mm jack emulated line out
Inputs: 1 x 1/4″ instrument jack, 1 x 1,35 mm jack aux in, footswitch
FX Loop w Send/Return
Digital Reverb built-in
Preamp valves: 3 x ECC83
Power amp valves: 2 x EL34
Weight: 9.7 kg / 21 lbs

So this is small and light, can go from close to clean to screaming gain, has loads of EQ options and can be bought brand new for less than 390 euros / 440 USD. I was totally impressed by this little power pack and would not mind getting one myself.

Would also like to throw in that this was the first time we recorded at this location, the light was worse than I though so next time I’ll bring my studio lights. Also the sound is picked up as we hear it in the room but, next time I think still I should place the microphones close to the speaker.

If you are one of those looking at my vid’s without subscribing, please do! Just hit that sub-button to support Have Guitar! Many Thanks to all of you kind enough to support me through subscription, you rock!
