Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

What’s this? A new Rig Showcase of course! Here’s the Sir PT One Hundred by Live Ready Sound – a pack that recreates the sound of a Suhr PT100 amplifier. An amp said to cover both Fender as well as Marshall typ sounds. The pack has, as I write this, already 6 updates out so if you can’t find something that suits your taste here I don’t know where you should look.

The original amp is a signature amp for guitarist Peter Thorn: “The Suhr PT100 Signature Edition features a 100 watt, three-channel tube amplifier head loaded with a custom “Plexi-style” output transformer, four EL-34 power tubes and six 12AX7 preamp tubes, a solid-state series/parallel effects loop, 4-button programmable footswitch.” Quote from Suhr’s information – for more take a look at Suhr’s webpage!

I wanna Thank Live Ready Sound for letting me do this Rig Showcase, had a good time time playing these sweet profiles. As I recorded I saved the profiles with the effects that I added and these has been sent back to LRS, who might add them to the official profile pack.

Backing track by Have Guitar (Style: Hard rock/metal)

Wow, it has been a loooong time since I released a new backing track! So, here’s a new one – Big Thrills, in the style of 80’s metal. At least that is what I think it sounds like, if you have another opinion feel free to leave a comment!

There isn’t really that much to say about this track – it’s in the key of A (BPM: 130) and you can just solo over it with the penta. It’s not that tricky! I decided not to do a commented extra video for this one… just play and have fun! If you wanna use this backing track for your own videos go ahead. I’d appreciate if you leave a comment where you got it from – Have Guitar!

Thanks for watching Have Guitar – hope you liked it and that you’ll support me by an subscribtion! I heard subscribers of Have Guitar lives a happier life so join in! A gargantuan Thanks to you who do subscribe!!!

Gibson 2019 Explorer Tribute – Test & Review

Gibson 2019 Explorer Tribute – Test & Review
Guitar Review by Have Guitar

Heeeeello Gibson Explorer Tribute 2019! Yeah, I know… Gibson isn’t what they used to be and the financial problems and quality issues with some years. Still, old habits die hard and I have been into Gibson way back. So far back it actually started when I was kid – many years before I even got a chance to pickup an electric guitar. For me, they just have a special place in my heart – but that doesn’t mean I can’t be critical when needed.

The original Explorer model has been one of my favourite models for a long time, I have played a few but the only one I actually bought was an Ibanez Destroyer (reissue of the original Destroyer). I had also promised myself not buy any more gear for good while ahead… and then came the Gibson 2019 lineup. Uhm. And Andertons had the Explorer Tribute in stock. Did you hear a breaking sound? Yup, that was my promise to myself that broke.

Well, there you have the some background to why I bought this guitar, unplayed and untested from the UK. The rest of the review and my rants are in the video – of course together with a good bunch of sound demos. Also see the index below for your convinience, if you wanna skip to some specific part of the video review.

Index:
00:38 – What’s in the case
02:54 – Specifications Gibson Explorer Tribute 2019
05:48 – Clean to Low gain sound demos
08:30 – Ramblings about the purchase
10:49 – Mid gain sound demos
13:30 – High gain sound demos
15:52 – Conclusion (yep, it’s long!)

If you think the conclusion is too long (and some people will think just that!) just read the below. Just warning you, this is a very compressed version of it:

Pros:
Cool looking guitar unless you like fancy stuff
Plays great
Sounds great
Quality is good, no dead frets or fret buzz
Great service from Andertons

Cons:
No fancy details if you’re into that
Extremely ugly softcase
No hardcase
Somewhat pricey for a Tribute model

Hey you… yes, you there. Did you like this video? Then you might wanna consider subscribing to Have Guitar. I’m just one guy doing this and every sub helps me get one step close to world domination. And believe me, a world controlled by a guitarist would become an Utopia compared to what we got today. *Mad cap laughing* And of course – to each and everyone of you who already subscribes – Thank You! My imaginary hat is permanently off for You!
