God of War by Live Ready Sound (Kemper profiles demo)

God of War by Live Ready Sound (KRS Ares 50)
Rig Showcase by Have Guitar!

Time for a closer look at the God of War pack from Live Ready Sound. This is a pack that is based on a KRS Ares 50 amplifier and it brings a long 95 Kemper profiles (8 direct profiles), of course ranging from clear to gain dripping sounds. I’m pretty sure the pack will grow over time and there will surely be at least a couple more updates from Live Ready Sound.

The KRS Ares 50 seems to be a really versatile amp with lots of options through voice switching and much more. If you are interested take a look at the detailed description provided by KRS on their website. The link is of found further down in this description.

As usual I do hope you enjoyed the video! Feel free to support Have Guitar by subscribing to the channel – it’s free for you and gives me the support I need. To all you who sub – Thanks, couldn’t do it without You!

Vintage Overdrive by Harley Benton (Thomann) Pedal Test

Vintage Overdrive by Harley Benton (Thomann) Pedal Test
Pedal Frenzy by Have Guitar!

Wow, it’s been way too long since I did a Pedal Frenzy (review) here! So this feature is now back AND in a revamped presentation. I do think this format is better, as it’ll show you in real time exactly what I’m doing with the pedals settings… and yeah, it is a long video and you might or might not like that. I however got tired of some pedal videos where you hardly get to hear the pedal so I set this up with two very different guitars and three different “amps” (Kemper profiles!); Fender Bassman, Revv 120 & the mighty PRS Archon. And I’ve also included an index so you can jump around as you please. In the video that is but sure if you wanna jump around whilst watching this video, go ahead!

I’ve had my eyes on the Harley Benton Vintage Overdrive for quite some time now, actually I heard a lot of good talk about it, from other guitarists. Gotta say after I had a go with it, I was pleasantly pleased with its performance. It’s cheap, it’s green and it’s a Tube Screamer clone – also well built for that sake! In my ears this low budget stomp box sounded much better than one might expect and well… I guess you just have to watch the video to hear it for yourself.

Gibson Gary Clark Jr. Signature SG – NGD / Unboxing

Gibson Gary Clark Jr. Signature SG – NGD / Unboxing
Unboxing video from Have Guitar

I guess it’s that time of the year when guitars comes and goes! Yep, it’s time for another unboxing video, eventhough I did not get this guitar in a box… so that’s why I added “NGD” to the title. Whats that, you say. Well, “NGD” simply means “New Gear Day” and that’s exactly what this is about.

So, I’ve been wanting a guitar with P90-pickups for a long time now. When I saw the Gibson sale that started awhile back (for the 2018 models) I saw this model for the first time; Gibson Gary Clark Jr. Signature SG – with 3 P90’s! So I got GAS immediately but then I got a couple of other guitars and was like “naw, forget that now”. Still it nagged me and then the other day, just before the sale ended I took my Godin Fishman Triple play guitar, which I hardly never play and went there. And came home with this Yellow menace.

Eventually I will make a full review video of this SG but until then this is what you get. Very much like an unboxing video and well… that’s it really.

Thanks for watching Have Guitar! If you wanna be loved like the rest of the gang who subscribes, I’d recommend you to subscribe you too! Remember, we’re all in it together!

Gibson 2019 Explorer Tribute – Test & Review

Gibson 2019 Explorer Tribute – Test & Review
Guitar Review by Have Guitar

Heeeeello Gibson Explorer Tribute 2019! Yeah, I know… Gibson isn’t what they used to be and the financial problems and quality issues with some years. Still, old habits die hard and I have been into Gibson way back. So far back it actually started when I was kid – many years before I even got a chance to pickup an electric guitar. For me, they just have a special place in my heart – but that doesn’t mean I can’t be critical when needed.

The original Explorer model has been one of my favourite models for a long time, I have played a few but the only one I actually bought was an Ibanez Destroyer (reissue of the original Destroyer). I had also promised myself not buy any more gear for good while ahead… and then came the Gibson 2019 lineup. Uhm. And Andertons had the Explorer Tribute in stock. Did you hear a breaking sound? Yup, that was my promise to myself that broke.

Well, there you have the some background to why I bought this guitar, unplayed and untested from the UK. The rest of the review and my rants are in the video – of course together with a good bunch of sound demos. Also see the index below for your convinience, if you wanna skip to some specific part of the video review.

Index:
00:38 – What’s in the case
02:54 – Specifications Gibson Explorer Tribute 2019
05:48 – Clean to Low gain sound demos
08:30 – Ramblings about the purchase
10:49 – Mid gain sound demos
13:30 – High gain sound demos
15:52 – Conclusion (yep, it’s long!)

If you think the conclusion is too long (and some people will think just that!) just read the below. Just warning you, this is a very compressed version of it:

Pros:
Cool looking guitar unless you like fancy stuff
Plays great
Sounds great
Quality is good, no dead frets or fret buzz
Great service from Andertons

Cons:
No fancy details if you’re into that
Extremely ugly softcase
No hardcase
Somewhat pricey for a Tribute model

Hey you… yes, you there. Did you like this video? Then you might wanna consider subscribing to Have Guitar. I’m just one guy doing this and every sub helps me get one step close to world domination. And believe me, a world controlled by a guitarist would become an Utopia compared to what we got today. *Mad cap laughing* And of course – to each and everyone of you who already subscribes – Thank You! My imaginary hat is permanently off for You!
