Black Box MKII by Riot (power supply test / review)

Test / Review by Have Guitar

Need a power supply for your pedals? Short on money? Then the Riot Black Box MKII might be something for you. I got tired of my bulky adaptors that takes up more than one space in the power strip so I went to the local music store to see what they could offer. I had planned to spend some more money but then I got greedy and thought I could try this one out.

Seems like this model is quite new and there is not much info to get about it. Heard a rumour that it might be Harley-Benton who’s making these but that is nothing but a rumour so far. It is made in china and the build of the unit seems more than descent for the price. Metal casing and 10 outs for less than 60 Euros? Great. Have a look at the video for my ‘verdict’.

I certainly hope you will like this video and please do support Have Guitar with your subscription if you do. Just wanna scream Thank You to all you who do subscribe, appreciate it!

Cam Modded Collection by Borg Factory (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Here’s a demo from another Kemper profile pack from Borg Factory – the Cam Modded Collection! This is a high gain pack with profiles taken from a couple of amplifiers that have been modded by a certain very well known amp modder. The amp’s are a Marshall 1976 JMP 100W that has the Ocean Mod, the other one is a Sovtek MIG-50 with the HG Jose mod. All studio profiles!

So, as said this is a pack of high gain stuff – well profiled from the original amps. Don’t take my word for it, listen to the demo and judge for yourself. Might add that while I am writing this the pack is on sale so if you like what you hear, go get it! The profilers are worth the support!

Thanks for watching Have Guitar, hope you liked this demo! A forever ongoing Thank You goes out to all of you who subscribe – your support is what makes it worth to continue making videos!

Tony Iommi (TI) Boost by Laney Black Country Customs (pedal test)

Pedal Frenzy by Have Guitar!

Here’s a pedal I have been looking forward to trying out, the Laney Black Country Customs TI Boost – where TI stand for Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath! So, this is a not a regular dist box but rather what is called a clean boost. It’s kinda a replica of what Iommi used in the early days of Sabbath but with some extra controls for gain, treble and base.

Just wanna say that I have used a slightly different approach in how I recorded this video… very much just improvising and noodling around as I try different settings on the pedal, I do hope it comes out OK. The editing of this video was cursed somehow… whatever could go wrong, went wrong! To a degree where I almost went ahead re-recorded it all over again. Just saying. Any comments – especially constructive critisim – is very welcome, I’m still experimenting on how to provide a nice overview of a pedal.

Anyways, I do hope you’ll like the video! And as in every video’s description I would like to say Thanks to you who subscribe, your support is awesome!

A note about the gain rating below; on the Kemper Profiling Amp each profile has a gain rating from 0 to 10. So Clean to Low gain = 0 – 3, Crunch = 4 – 6 and Hi gain = 7 – 10.

Index:
02:55 – TMS Profiles TREK (MB TripRec), gain 0/10. Note: the sound here is taken from the room microphones, not lined signal.
06:14 – ToneJunkie 3p Triple Agent (3P Dial Citizen), gain 0/10. Lead to a Backing track.
06:48 – Live Ready Sound Fried Chicken (Fman BE100), gain 5/10.

17:51 – Some kinda of conclusion!

Randall Satan (120w) by ReampZone (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

It’s been awhile since I featured a profile pack from ReampZone so here’s the Randall Satan (120w) Kemper profile pack! The pack is packed (pun intended!) with fat metal tones but flexible enough for other styles as well. Contains both direct and studio profiles, some boosted with stomps like the Fortin 33 for an extra tight nice boost!

The Randall Satan is the signature amp of Ola Englund, comes in two variants (120 and 50 W). The 120W version comes with 2 channels and of course loaded with features… for more details, check the link to Randall Amplification provided below.

I hope I made this sweet pack from ReampZone justice and that you’ll like this demo. Feel free to support Have Guitar by a subscription! A bag of “thank yous” is handed out to you who subsscribe as always… you make it worthwhile to keep it up!

TMS RKR30 by TMS Profiles (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Here’s a video that features TMS Profiles new Kemper profile pack – RKR30 – recreating the sound of an Orange Rocker 30 head. This pack contain 40 Merged profiles that according to my opinion really captures that Orange sound – fat and creamy just like you should like it! And… I’ll throw in this video as a “bonus” as it’s also a giveaway! Watch the video to see how to enter – a very Big Thank You to TMS Profiles for letting me do this giveaway.

Deadline for the giveaway:
April 27th 2019, 23:59

Throwing in a footnote here that this is the first video that I have created/edited in Davinci Resolve, a video editing software that is available for free in a light version. It should not make any difference for you as a viewer and the reason for me changing software is that I am tired of seeing the Magix Movie Studio Platinum series not improving with the new versions. And also that I don’t wanna pay for those not so good new versions…

Thanks for watching Have Guitar and the support from you who subscribe is something which I am very grateful for! If you wanna support my little independent channel do subscribe, it’s free! 😉

FX600 by Behringer (Effect pedal demo)

Pedal Frenzy by Have Guitar

This time around we’ll have a look the guitar multi-effects pedal FX600 from Behringer. This stomp pedal is an alternative for those who are on a tighter budget as it only costs around 20 euros (about 22 USD). The FX600 comes with no less than six different effects: Flanger, Chorus, Phaser, Delay, Tremolo and Pitch Shifter. Maybe I should add this is a 24-bit digital effects pedal as well. (There isn’t much more technical spec’s available than this!)

Alright, so in this demo/review I will playing a Fender Stratocaster, through the Kemper Profiling Amp – the Behringer FX600 is hooked up through the Kempers FX loop. And if you didn’t – the Kemper takes pedals as well as any tube amplifier. I have chosen to use Kemper profiles from ToneJunkie’s 67 Supery Verb pack – Kemper profiles taken from a Fender Super Reverb from 67. I have consistently used one all clean profile and one slightly overdriven profile for all of the effects in the FX600.

Due to user failure all the closeups of the FX600 while playing with the clean profile was shot in timelapse mode, so there will not be any close-ups of that – sorry!

800 (2204) Pack by SinMix (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Time for a Kemper profile pack built on a classic amp – SinMix JCM 800/2204 from a Marshall JCM800 (Model 2204)! This is a big pack with both Studio as well as Direct profiles and with those numbers comes also variety. I’d say you have covered anything from pop to metal here and I have tried show that flexibility in this demo video.

The Marshall JCM800 was introduced in 1981 and the 2204 model has actually been available since 1975 – redesigned in ’81. The 2204 is a single-channel 50 watt amp and has been described as having the “brown sound”. Now… I suppose most guitarist to know what that means, so google it if you don’t know!

All in all I have to say this is a great pack, comes with that characteristic Marshall tone that all love (or hate?). The pack has been profiled with loads of different microphones and cab’s which of course brings along that variety in sound that I’ve already mentioned. Many thanks to SinMix for letting me do this demo – if you like what you hear support SinMix by buying the pack!

Hope you liked the demo and thanks for watching. Feel to support Have Guitar by subscribing, commenting and like the video – it’ll be much appreciated! A Very Big Thank You goes out to you who subscribes!!

SOLO 100 by Borg Factory Profiles + Giveaway (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Here’s a new Rig Showcase and today I’m proud to present/demo a new profiler: Borg Factory Profiles! Nice? Ubernice! In this video I’ll demo their SOLO 100 Kemper profile pack – a pack that recreates the sound of a Soldana SLO 100. And it does it well too…

In my opinion this is another of those fine packs that kinda shows of what the Kemper is capable of, good tones all around with fine energy and a creamy and powerful tone – with any of the four guitars that I tested it with. For more information on this pack follow the link below! Same goes for the amp that this pack is created from…

Giveaway: one lucky winner will get this pack! Send in an email to admin *at* haveguitar.com with the topic “Borg SOLO 100” and you are in! Easy as it seems! Deadline for this giveaway: 28th of March 2019, 23:59.

V90 Mesa MK V by TMS Profiles + Giveaway! (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase and Giveaway by Have Guitar!

Time for another rig showcase and this time it’s the brand new profile pack from TMS Profiles – V90 Mesa MK V! Now this was a pleasure to try out, loads and loads of great sound profiles… and the pack is cheap too! And to add to that, if you watch this video you could have a chance of winning a copy of this profile pack for free! That’s right, TMS Profiles was so kind that they let me giveaway 5 copies of this pack! Ain’t that grand?! So the instructions of getting into the giveaway comes at the end of video.

DEADLINE for this giveaway: 21st of March 2019, 23:59!
(The Winners will be presented in a video a couple of days after the DL!)

The V90 MK V pack comes loaded with 99 merged profiles for your Kemper profiling amp – some of them has effects included from the start and do believe all of them has inactivated effects included. A tip, that I also mention in the video, is to lower the Noise Gate – seems ALL the profiles has quite a high setting and lowering the NG helps to make the tone feel a bit more dynamic in my opinion.

So that is it, I do hope you like the video AND the giveaway – once again thanks to TMS profiles for being so generous!! Also, feel free to sunscribe to Have Guitar to support my channel, it will be much appreciated. And as always to all you subscribing – thanks for Your support!

Sir PT One Hundred by Live Ready Sound (Kemper profiles demo)

Sir PT One Hundred by Live Ready Sound (Kemper profiles demo)
Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

What’s this? A new Rig Showcase of course! Here’s the Sir PT One Hundred by Live Ready Sound – a pack that recreates the sound of a Suhr PT100 amplifier. An amp said to cover both Fender as well as Marshall typ sounds. The pack has, as I write this, already 6 updates out so if you can’t find something that suits your taste here I don’t know where you should look.

The original amp is a signature amp for guitarist Peter Thorn: “The Suhr PT100 Signature Edition features a 100 watt, three-channel tube amplifier head loaded with a custom “Plexi-style” output transformer, four EL-34 power tubes and six 12AX7 preamp tubes, a solid-state series/parallel effects loop, 4-button programmable footswitch.” Quote from Suhr’s information – for more take a look at Suhr’s webpage!

I wanna Thank Live Ready Sound for letting me do this Rig Showcase, had a good time time playing these sweet profiles. As I recorded I saved the profiles with the effects that I added and these has been sent back to LRS, who might add them to the official profile pack.

Thanks for watching Have Guitar – why don’t you go ahead and subscribe? The support will be much appreciated! If you already subscribe – Thanks!!!
