Golden Plexi by Tone City Audio (Guitar pedal review, test, sound demos)

Pedal Frenzy by Have Guitar!

A golden small metal box that brings out the sound from a Marshall Plexi amp, is that possible? With ToneCity Audio’s Golden Plexi it is and that is the subject for this video! It is small, it is cheap and it can make your tones scream like a pig on fire. Well… actually it will sound better than that… I never lit a pig on fire but I do imagine this sounds better…

I must just say this, I kinda ran into a problem when I was trying out the pedal. It sounded fantastic when I used it with a clean tone but as soon as I switched to a profile with some gain it immediately became too much. Too fat, too compressed and just too much in general! I guess I had not done my homework properly on this pedal, seems to be intended to be plugged in to the clean channel of an amplifier.

As I usually use the same guitar for the whole video when it comes to effetc pedals, due to the above fact I used different guitars with different clean profiles instead. You know, trying to create a video with more overview perspective so to speak.

This demo/review is done with a Kemper Profiling Amp, with the stomp box plugged in to the front of the Kemper. The Kemper sounds and reacts very much like a classic (or modern!) tube amp and it takes pedals just a real amp. Just wanna make that clear!

And there we are! I hope you like the video – comments, both positive and negative are welcome – I’m always looking for opinions to make my videos better. Wanna support me? Subscribe to Have Guitar! Likes and sharing the videos are also welcome. A big Thank You goes out to all of you who already subscribe!!!

Dark Matter by TC Electronics (Distortion pedal test / review)

Dark Matter by TC Electronics (Distortion pedal test / review)
Pedal Frenzy by Have Guitar

Here’s another Pedal Frenzy where I take a look at TC Electronics Dark Matter, a distortion pedal for electric guitar. So, I didn’t really know much about this stomp when I ordered it from Thomann. I know the brand TC Electronics, since the mid 80’s but back then my impression was that it was a high-end quite expensive brand. Or was it me being poorer back then? I don’t really know but this pedal is not expensive!

I can say already that I was pleased by the sounds this pedal can pull off, the sound certainly is not cheap. So in this video I test it out with a bunch different Kemper profiles, trying to cover a wide range of amp styles and sounds to see how the Dark Matter affects the sound.

Yeah, it’s an epic video – considering it’s lenght! Is that a bad thing? I don’t know, I just prefer content over 2 minute videos. But… for your pleasure I have put in an index to the video below so you can jump to the part you wanna see.

Index:
02:09 – Live Ready Sound Tweed profile, low gain to crunch (gain 2/10)
06:33 – ReamZone Framus Dragon profile, clean sound with some delay (gain 0/10)
11:59 – BM Profiles Friedman BE 100 profile, quite high gain (gain 6/10)
16:04 – Pete’s Profiles Wizard profile, crunch sound (gain 3/10)
20:09 – ToneJunkie Matchless profile, clean sound (gain 0/10)
25:37 – Conclusion along with some rambling

Hey! I hope liked this video and if so please do subscribe! Doesn’t cost you a dime but gives me the support I need to carry on this craziness… As always a Very Big Thanks to all you who do sub – it’s just fantastic!

Rob Arnold September 2018 ToneCrate Kemper Bundle (Kemper profiles demo)

Rob Arnold September 2018 ToneCrate Kemper Bundle (Kemper profiles demo)
Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Finally got my Kemper back from service… or finally? It actually didn’t take much time but it felt like an eternity! Anyways – here is the ToneCrate September 2018 Kemper Bundle! Featured artist this time around is Rob Arnold known from Chimaira and The Elite. Amps used is Pvy6505 and Bogner Ubershall! There is also some base profiles taken from a Fender BXR amp plus a bonus profile not included in the bundle.

If you don’t know what ToneCrate is about – it’s pretty much like the LootCrate but with Kemper profiles. You sign up for a subscription and each month you will get a new pack of Kemper profiles and a bonus. The bonus so far has been more profiles but it could apparently be other stuff as well! A very nice and fun concept that I support of course!

And here we go – to all you subscribers: an enormous Thank You, as always! But you… yes you. You could be thanked too if you subscribe now. C’mon, it’s free and gives me the support needed to keep this up and maybe even expand the channel!

Kemper Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Say what?! It’s a new episode of Have Guitar’s Kemper Rig Showcase!! Let’s take a swing at the Sinergy AC from SGL Profiles! This pack recreates the sound of a modular tube preamp system through EL34 and 6L6 power amps. To me it sound kinda like a Vox amp even if it isn’t.

The pack comes quite cheap; 7 Canadian dollars (5.3 USD or 4.7 EUR) and for that you will get 21 Studio, 6 Merged and 3 Direct profiles. Nothing for the metal heads in here but I’d say if you want something suited for rock, blues or maybe even pop music this pack has a little something for you.

So, I certainly hope you like this video and feel free to support my channel by a subscription! And as always a Very Big Thanks goes out to all you who subscribe – Thank You!

Nitro profiles by FastRedPonyCar (Kemper free profiles demo)
Free Kemper profiles by Have Guitar

So, time to kick this feature back to life – the Free Kemper profiles series! I have featured some profiles (that was great!) from FastRedPonyCar before, and I do believe these are the latest released from him – two Nitro profiles for your Kemper.

Only two?!, you say. Yeah, but whatta kick a** profiles they are, man! C’mon, this is like Christmas for anyone who like high gain that still retains good solid string separation. Yeah, I love’em… and the profiles are named “Nitro” so I do supose that origins from a Splawn Nitro amplifier… it might be so but lets get it on now, listen to them. Just listen to them!

If you wanna try out FastRedPonyCar’s profiles just search for that author name in Rig Exchange (in Rig Manager). You’ll find these and a bunch others, equally good. Great, I mean.

Solo Rec Kemper profile pack by ToneJunkie (Kemper profiles demo)

Kemper Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Well, here is the August 2018 Kemper profile pack from Profilecrate; the Solo Rec pack! Profilecrate is a service provided by ToneJunkie – just sign up with your email adress and you will get a free Kemper profile pack every month! Easy as pie and why not join when it’s free?!

The Solo Rec recreates the sound of a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50. I think most of you know what to expect from an amp like this… it’s not like Mesa Boogie is an obscure brand that no-one knows abot, right? This goes from quite nice clean tone all the way up screaming gain!

This pack comes with 18 profiles so if you are not signed up to Profilecrate it is high time to do it now! As said this is the August 2018 pack, so after the 31:th of August this pack is no longer free.

Fried Taco 20 Pack by ToneJunkie (Kemper profiles demo)

Kemper Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

OK, so obviously I have fallen back on the free profile packs from Profilecrate (provided by ToneJunkie) and now I’m trying to catch up! The Fried Taco 20 pack is actually the free Kemper profile pack of July 2018 and should be buyable from profilecrate.com for around $10… (as I’m writing it’s not listed there).

So first of all for you who don’t know about Profilecrate; it’s a service from ToneJunkie – you just sign up with your email adress and every month they release a Kemper profile pack that you can download for free, provided you download it before the month ends. That’s it and to me it’s a no-brainer to sign up for such a good deal!

The Fried Taco 20 pack recreates the tone of a Friedman Pink Taco. This amp is “the baby sister” of the BE-100, according to Friedmans description of this amplifier. A hand-wired 20 watt and EL84 powered amp that can do anything from blues to heavy metal. These profiles proves the versatility of the amp with a rich tone and quite wide sound spectrum.

Kemper Rig Showcase by Have Guitar

Welcome to yet another Rig Showcase from Have Guitar! I’m happy to bring you a demo of a fine Kemper profile pack from Tone Junkie – ACE 15HW.

This pack trying to recreate the sound from a VOX AC15 amplifier (kill me if I’m wrong on that!) and this pack gives you 44 Studio profiles for your KPA. As I say in the video, ToneJunkie seems to deliver every time… and this is no exception as I hope to prove with this demo video. Don’t expect metal but there are some gain to be had together with a sweet tone and very good variation throughout the profiles.

Hope you liked this video – subscribe for more guitar madness from Have Guitar! To all you who are subscribing – Thank You, your support is great!

6SOS by TMS Profiles (Kemper profiles demo)

6SOS by TMS Profiles (Kemper profiles demo)
Kemper Rig showcase by Have guitar

So here’s a demo of the 6SOS Kemper profile pack from TMS Profiles – and yup, that is of course based on a Peavey 6505 amplifier. And yes again, this is a brute made for harder side of the force. Still it’s a brute made affordable, you can get the 120 watt head for under 1000 euros – and in tube amp territory that ain’t that expensive!

This profile pack comes loaded with 77 studio profiles and 7 direct profiles, profiled using seven different cab’s and some even boosted with TS808 or MXR Badass OD. Variety and brute force joined together, but it’s not all metal… there some cleaner sounds to be found within TMS Profiles pack as well. Anyways, have a look at the video to hear them with you own two ears.

Here’s a Rig Showcase on the full Redwood City Fire profile pack from Live Ready Sound. I have demo’d the FX addon (by me!) previously but as said here in the full pack demo. The Redwood City Fire is recreating the sound of a Panama Fuego amplifier, and in this Kemper profile pack you will get 56 studio profiles plus the FX addon (10 profiles). All in all a very nice acquaintance with its own character and style! Just great profiles, as LRS states on their website.
