West Avalon by Mattfig (Kemper profiles demo)

Rig Showcase by Have Guitar!

Time for Have Guitar Rig Showcase #2:20 and here’s a rare beast profiled; West Laboratories Amplifiers Avalon by Mattfig! This pack packs some serious vintage raw power and brings 131 profiles (both studio and direct).

So what about the amp behind this sound? Well, it’s West Amps and it’s kinda hard finding much information about them. These amps were built by David West and made their clame to fame by being used by Grand Funk Railroad (on their first four albums).

West stopped making these amps full-time at the end of the 70’s and by the end of the 80’s he closed business to go on other ventures. Or did he? I have found other sources that states he left the business already in 1972 and that reissues of the classic West amps were launched around 2013. I don’t know which of the above is true, the information is scarce…

Anyways, this pack recreates the sound from a West Avalon amp, 50 watts and I would say it covers all lot of ground… nice warm cleans up to quite heavy (pedal boosted) tones.

There we go! Hope you enjoyed this video, if you wanna support my channel please subscribe! Thanks to all of you who already do!

The Solo Rec recreates the sound of a Mesa Boogie Single Rectifier 50. I think most of you know what to expect from an amp like this… it’s not like Mesa Boogie is an obscure brand that no-one knows abot, right? This goes from quite nice clean tone all the way up screaming gain!

This pack comes with 18 profiles so if you are not signed up to Profilecrate it is high time to do it now! As said this is the August 2018 pack, so after the 31:th of August this pack is no longer free.

JTM50 1966 Black Flag by Burns (Free Kemper profiles demo)

JTM50 1966 Black Flag by Burns (Free Kemper profiles demo)
Kemper Rig showcase by Have guitar

Free stuff is nice but sometimes it can be really hard to dig out the good stuff, especially in a place like Rig Exchange – spend 5 seconds with each profile there and you have 992 hours in front of you!

Yeah, well – that ain’t realistic and that’s how I came up with idea so showcase some of the free Kemper profiles that I like – maybe you will too! When I find one I’ll make a video on it if I like it. This time it’s another Marshall JTM50 from 1966 and this is the second time I feature that model on this feature. However, there’s a big difference between these profiles even if they come from the same amp model and that is what make’s them interesting to me!

There are eight of these nice profiles available and in this video I’ll demo four them – leaving something for you to discover for yourself… So, again – a big thanks to David for sharing these fine profiles with us! And hey. if you like this video, why not subscribe to Have Guitar! Your support is more important than you might think and every sub counts. To all of you already subscribing – Thank You!!!

To find these Kemper profiles; start up your Rig Manager, go to Rig Exchange and search for “Burns” and you will get all the profiles listed and ready to play! Have fun!
