Odyssey Boundary Series by FGN Guitars|Review|Sound demos

Review of the S-style FGN (Fujigen) Odyssey from the Boundary series, equipped with a Fujigen humbucker and two single-coils. It’s not an expensive guitar at just above 700 USD, but it’s not the absolute low end of the budget guitars.

The Fujigen Osyssey comes with a body of Japanese basswood, Gotoh tuners and coiltap for the humbucker, which is a nice feature. It weighs in on approximately 3.4 kg (~7.5 lbs), comes in two colors and is stringed with D’Addario EXL110 (.010-.046).

So for this review|demo I have used both my Kemper and the Marshall DSL20HR, so you’ll get both sounds from both the digital and the analogue world… I’ve also arranged the sound demos after type and source; see the index provided below.

Fractured Mirror by Ace Frehley|KISS (Cover|Guitar|Bass|Tabs|Lesson)

This is a detailed lesson/turotial with tabs for both guitar and bass for Ace Frehleys Fractured Mirror. First out is my recording of the song, complete with tabs and after that I go through the track in more detail for the acoustic guitars, the electric guitars and the bass.

Well, what to say about this lesson? It was requested so here it is. I know I managed to miss that the drums should go one round before the power chords and bass comes in! This song is not that complicated but well structured, well, as are all the songs on Ace’s solo album from 1978 (if you ask me!). One thing I noted was that it goes a lot quicker to do a lesson when there isn’t one or more lead parts to perform *smile*.

Turbo Tube Screamer TS9DX by Ibanez (Pedal demo/test/review – Part II)

This is part II of my review/demo of the Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer TS9DX, I decided to splitt the video in to two parts as it would have become over 40 minutes otherwise… In this part the presets and testing the pedal on the Classic Gain channel of the Marshall DSL20HR, also more singlecoil action here!

The part of the review contains tests of all four different modes (TS9, +, Hot and Turbo) plus I go through the three controls (Gain, Level and Tone), all done on the Ultra Gain channel of the Marshall DSL20HR.

I have included both the mic’ed amp and sound from the room mic’s as I think that gives the most honest sound – they do sound slightly different but I’m not sure it could be done better (ny me!). If you want to see how I set up the mic for the cabinett see the last part, Roundup talk, where I show that with a couple of pix!

Turbo Tube Screamer TS9DX by Ibanez (Pedal demo/test/review – Part I)

Let’s kick of the new year year with a premier! What’s new, you ask? A pedal frenzy but this time I don’t run the pedal through the Kemper but through my new tube amp – Marshall DSL20HR! Shock, surpize and hurrahs – finally!

So this is the first part of my review of the Ibanez Turbo Tube Screamer TS9DX. When I was editing the video, I decided to split it in two parts when I reached 20 minutes and had about the same amount of material left… I don’t know if that is a good idea or not but I just felt around 20 min’s are enough for one video. This first part contains tests of all four different modes (TS9, +, Hot and Turbo) plus I go through the three controls (Gain, Level and Tone).

I have included both the mic’ed amp and sound from the room mic’s as I think that gives the most honest sound – they do sound slightly different but I’m not sure it could be done better. Part II contains the presets given from Ibanez in the manual and some additional tweaking by me and in Part II I also include the Telecaster so you’ll get sound from both humbuckers and singlecoils.

Top 5 Kemper profile packs of 2020

Another year passed so it’s time to chose the five best packs of Kemper profiles that I have demoed here on Have Guitar! Or is that Top 6…? Kinda, as I have included a “bonus pack” that was really worth mentioning.

I say it in the video but it’s worth repeating; it is ridiculously hard to pick five pack out of the 35 or so profile pack that I have featured during 2020.
