Hotter Than Hell by KISS (Rhythm guitar lesson)

This video is a lesson on how to play the rhythm guitars for Hotter Than Hell by KISS. The first part of the video is a “play-along” and the second part is a more detailed lesson for those of you who feels you need that.

Hotter Than Hell was recorded during August 1974, at the Village Recorder studios in Los Angeles. The release date was October 22 1974. The band was not very happy over being in Los Angeles and it didn’t get better by the fact that Paul Stanleys Gibson Firebird (as seen on the cover of the Alive! album) was stolen. Much has been said about the sound of this album… some people love it, some hate it. I personally love it!

Silver Anniversary by Live Ready Sound (Kemper profiles demo)

Back with another pack from Live Ready Sound – Silver Anniversary! This Kemper profile pack recreates the sound from a Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555x and if it’s a Marshall tone you’re looking for, it’s a Marshall tone you get!

The Marshall Silver Jubilee series was released in 1987 to celebrate 25 years of amplification (and 50 years in business!). The Jubilee amps were nased on the JCM 800 series and features a split-channel feature where you can set tow different gain levels through the same tone stack and master control. One of the most well known artists to use the Silver Jubilee is Slash, but mostly (almost only) live and seldom on the studio recordings.

Taking a look at the Dumbell Kemper profile pack from Mattfig – this pack recreates the sound from a Dumble Overdrive Special from 1983. Even if the Overdrive Special is crazy expensive, here’s your chance take advantage of that tone…

VST plugins – How to install & find them!

How do you install VST plugins & instruments to your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) and where do you find them? It’s really not that complicated but still a question I get quite often. So I decided to make this video, hopefully that will be helpful for those who just don’t know how to…

I should make a note that I am using Reaper as DAW, so while Reaper of course is being used in this tutorial, I’d say the things I talk about here is applicable for a majority of DAW’s, be it ProTools, Cubase, Cakewalk etc.

Things are adressed in this video: installing DAW and releated software across multiple hard drives, where to place your plugins and instruments, how to make sure that your DAW finds the installed software and how to add it to a track… and some more! The video actually came out a bit longer than I had anticipated but, well, I hope there’s no waste of time despite that fact.

Grindmachine by Audio Assault (Review / Sound demo)

A closer look at the VST amp sim Grindmachine from Audio Assault! I stumbled across an ad on Facebook where I saw this for sale – only 3.99 USD. That’s worth a try, I thought to myself and how right was I!

Grindmachine comes with 15 different amps and 22 different cabs, it’s available for both Windows and Mac (in both 32 and 64 bits versions!). I’d say if you are looking for soft nice sounds… just forget about it. This is fist-to-your-face-hard metal high-gain stuff! And it sounds good!!

For those who wonders how it was recorded… Guitar > Sound card > Reaper. Screen capture by OBS studio.

Cameroon CCV by Mattfig (Kemper profiles demo)

Another Kemper profile pack tested – this I’m having a look at Cameroon CVV from Mattfig! Doesn’t really say on Mattfig’s website but without taking too much risk I’d say this a Cameron CVV amplifier being profiled…

Tried to make a good selection for an overview of this pack from Mattfig, it’s very much Plexi-tonality we’re talking about here… And it sound good to me!
