Finally an answer to a question that has been plaguing savvy Internet guitarists since the Boss Katana was released: how does the Katana take pedals? And here is the answer: as any other guitar amplifier. But. If that is not enough for you – ye of doubtful minds – then watch this video.
So yes, in this video I have selected a few gain pedals from my vast collection (read; four out of five pedals) – EHX Green Russian Big Muff (Fuzz) & Soul Food (transparent overdrive), Suhr Riot (Distortion) and the MXR Zakk Wylde Berzerker (Overdrive). They go into the front of the Boss Katana, which is setup with a “sneaky amp”: Clean Twin. And then… noodling is on. Anyways, if you are interesting in a particular pedal here’s a small index for you:
Index:
03:32 – Clean Twin w/o pedals as a reference
03:53 – EHX Green Russian Big Muff
05:16 – MXR Zakk Wylde Berzerker
06:27 – EHX Soul Food
08:33 – Suhr Riot
So, I certainly hope you’ll like this video and if so please do subscribe to Have Guitar for more wonky videos! People who don’t like this video should still subscribe to be able to learn to like my videos and thus making their lifes 101 % better. To each and everyone already sub’ing: Thanks!!!

Here’s a video tip for ya! I kinda love these kinds of videos – I find them inspirational and sometimes there’ll pop up a little something that I didn’t know. Doesn’t have to be complicated to be good…
Pvy JSX by Guidorist (Kemper profiles demo)
Kemper Rig Showcase from Have Guitar!
So, it’s a requested Rig Showcase this time – Guidorists Pvy JSX Kemper profile pack. Yep, that is profiles taken from a Peavey JSX amplifier and while this pack only has five profiles (my pack has five… I think the one at Guidorists webshop now has six) they make up for it with the great tone you will get. The pack comes with one clean profile and four higain monsters, great sustain and well, they just sound good.
Slightly shorter video than usual as it’s a small pack… I choose the ESP Phoenix II for it’s high output and then the Schecter Custom E-1 as those humbuckers are slightly less hot and definitely has a different character than the ESP.
I hope you’ll like this video and if you don’t already – please do subscribe to Have Guitar for more guitar related videos! As always thanks to all you who already do!!

Katana amplifier from Boss – Building a liveset, part 2
Been awhile but here is the second part of building a liveset for the Boss Katana. I’ve skipped the part where I go through the sound patch in Boss Tone Studio, once you have downloaded the updated liveset you can check it out for yourself. Or… just play.
The batch is done with strats – one American Standard configured as HSS and one Green Guitars Master Series configured as SSS. There’s really not much more to say about it – hope you will like the new sound patches!
You can find the link to this Liveset below, do download it and try it out for yourself!
I do hope you like this video and if you do – pretty please subscribe to Have Guitar! A Very Big Thanks to all old and new subscriber, your support is invaluable!

Here’s a nice video for you who wants to hear non-metal stuff from a Kemper. I’ve seen many people asking just that; is the Kemper something for the metal heads only? Absolutely not. But there’s a bunch of metal players using it. So anyways, great playing and some sweet clean tones in this video:
I don’t know about you but for me Pink Floyds Dark Side of the Moon is a fantastic album. It was already legendary in the 80’s when I heard it the first time and I was hooked right there and then. Maybe not so strange that it remained on the Billboard list for 741 weeks! So, here a video about it, well worth a watch…
Freebie Metal Pack by ReampZone (Kemper profiles demo) + competition
Kemper Rig Showcase from Have Guitar!
Yay – ReampZone has just released a sweet free sample pack that contains ten Kemper profiles – the Freebie Metal Pack. Let me tell you, this is high quality profiles for your Kemper! As far as I can judge, none of these profiles are bad, actually they all sound bad ass. So, if you don’t have any commercial profiles this is an excellent opportunity to add some great sounding profiles to your Kemper. If you do have commercial profiles it’s still a great opportunity. Yes, mostly aimed for metal but that doesn’t mean you can’t use them for other styles as well.
And guess what? It’s time for a little “competition” here at Have Guitar! Or a give-away… but let’s call it a competition. So, I have a discount code to give away from ReampZone and that code will give You a discount of 100 dollars at ReampZones webshop. Yeah, that is right… it’s worth 100 dollars so you can buy a crap load of profiles from ReampZone. A very Big Thanks for ReampZone for this!
So how do you enter this competition?! It’s easy. In this video I have “hidden” four classic rock riffs/leads, identify at least one of those and send me an email: admin (at) haveguitar.com. Everyone who has identified at least one of those four licks correctly has an equal chance of winning the discount code. Two winners will get a Have Guitar t-shirt as runnerup price but if you do not want one please state that in your email, so I know. This competion is open until the 26th of April 2018, 00:00 CET. Good luck!
